Sloppy Joe's Foundation - Saturdays are 'Caturdays!'

At Sloppy Joe’s every Saturday, the Sloppy Joe’s Foundation’s Caturday Earmark campaign spotlights a worthy community-based nonprofit. The growing success of Caturday is not just about putting the “fun” into fundraising, but it's also about the invaluable support of our locals and visitors. The glowing cat ears are a fun symbol, but they also represent the growing awareness of the needs of our island's community-based nonprofit organizations. Your wholehearted embrace of Caturday’s mission and your generous donations make this campaign a success.

Whether helping the Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition reach its ‘May is For Moms’ fundraising goal with over $3,400 raised or providing numerous summer camp scholarships for Reef Relief, Key West PAL, and the Youth Sailing Center, the Sloppy Joe’s Foundation strives to make these programs accessible for all. We are so appreciative of our friends’ and customers’ generous donations in making this a reality.

July Caturday will benefit the Key West High School Marching Band.

National Bingo Day @ Sloppy Joe's Bar

The lively atmosphere at Sloppy Joe's Bar was electric on National Bingo Day, Thursday, June 27th. Patrons packed the cozy, live music establishment, eagerly clutching their bingo cards and brightly colored markers. Laughter and chatter filled the air as friends and strangers alike exchanged playful banter and competitive jabs. The bartenders served up an array of vibrant cocktails and frosty beers, keeping the spirits high and the glasses full. With each round, the anticipation grew palpable, and every call of a number was met with cheers, groans, or hopeful silence.

As the night progressed, the excitement only intensified. Shouts of "Bingo!" rang out periodically, each one followed by a mix of applause, congratulations, and good-natured grumbling from those still chasing that elusive winning card. The winners beamed with pride as they collected their quirky prizes, ranging from free drinks to novelty items emblazoned with the Sloppy Joe’s Bar logo. Between rounds, patrons shared stories, laughed at old jokes, and forged new friendships. The camaraderie was infectious, making it a memorable evening for everyone. National Bingo Day at Sloppy Joe's Bar was not just about the game; it was about community, connection, and a shared sense of joy.

Sloppy Joe's Famous Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, July 17-21, 2024

From July 17-21, 2024, Sloppy Joe's Bar will once again host its renowned Hemingway Look-Alike Contest, an annual celebration that draws aspiring Hemingways from far and wide. This beloved event, steeped in tradition and local lore, transforms the bar into a lively homage to the literary legend himself. Contestants don their best white beards, fishermen's sweaters, and safari jackets, capturing the rugged, adventurous spirit of Ernest Hemingway. The atmosphere is festive and vibrant, with patrons cheering on their favorite look-alikes as they parade across the stage, striking poses reminiscent of the iconic author. The contest not only honors Hemingway's legacy but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and fun, bringing together a diverse crowd of fans, locals, and tourists for an unforgettable celebration of one of America's greatest literary figures.
